CARDIFF and Brighton are the two sides battling for football in the Premier League next season. Which club will survive the drop?

After meeting each other in a crucial game on Tuesday night, Cardiff found a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and captain Sean Morrison.

The 3 points earned for the Bluebirds has clawed the difference down to just 2 points. Brighton also have a game in hand.

Cardiff City’s remaining fixtures                             Brighton’s remaining fixtures

21 April: Liverpool (Home)                                             20 April: Wolves (Away)

23 April: Spurs (Away)

27 April: Fulham (Away)                                                 27 April: Newcastle (Home)

4 May: Crystal Palace (Home)                                         4 May: Arsenal (Away)

12 May: Man Utd (Away)                                                 12 May: Man City (Home)

Cardiff for me have the easier run-in. In fact, I don’t think Brighton will pick up another point. For me it all depends on if Cardiff can find a win in one of those games.

Cardiff have already outperformed expectations by not finishing bottom and are still challenging for a spot in next season’s Premier League.

The key games for Cardiff are the ones between already relegated Fulham and fairly safe Crystal Palace. Cardiff have the potential to grab six points which almost confirm their safety in the league.

Brighton must do better than their performance against Cardiff if they are to get any points from their last 5 games. The game against Newcastle could be crucial come the end of the season.

Captain’s View

Cardiff City captain Sean Morrison spoke after the Brighton win stating “A win tonight gives us the chance to stay up, and that’s what it’s all about. We’re giving ourselves the best chance possible. So tonight was extremely important. I was incredibly proud to be on that pitch with the boys tonight because their effort was superb throughout the match.”

On the other side of the battle is Brighton captain Bruno. He said. “It’s a battle for survival and we knew we were in it, the result makes that table even tighter now.”

Who do you think will finish in the illustrious 17th spot?
